Killing off characters

The saddest moment of any author’s carreer is when he finally kills off a major character. This was doubly hard and sad for me, as the death of this particular character in the end of book three meant writing a truly heart-rending scene. But the fate of an author means that you cannot hang onto even a beloved character just for the sake of it. There comes a time, just as in real life, when you must let go!
RIP to a beloved and brave soul. You are gone from the page now, but will live on in the memory of others.
